Our own Dr. Lauren Streicher tells us where to get free or low cost medical screenings that can save your life. Here's a list of screening.

Mammograms:
Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program, run by Illinois Department of Public Health cancerscreening.illinois.gov

A Silver Lining Foundation
A Silver Lining partners with hospitals and clinics to provide free mammograms. In addition to free mammograms, the foundation also provides cancer education and quality of life assistance.

PAP Tests
Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program run by Illinois Department of Public Health) cancerscreening.illinois.gov

Planned Parenthood Program: Illinois Healthy Women
Provides no cost pap tests, gynecologic exams, breast exams. (Must apply to be eligible.)

Colonoscopy:
The ColonoscopyAssist" program provides colonoscopy screenings and colorectal cancer support for the underinsured community. Total cost is $950 (Usually a colonoscopy costs between $1500 -$3000)

Home Tests to check for blood in the stool can be purchased at the pharmacy for about $10.

Head and Neck cancer
Illinois Chapter of the Head and Neck Cancer Alliance will offer head and neck cancer screenings at various locations in the Chicago area. O'Hare Clinic of the Advanced Occupational Medicine Specialists 4200 N. Mannheim Road in Schiller Park, IL, on April 27, 2012, from 9 AM 2 PM.
